Long-range radar system will track drug boats in Caribbean, Tobago officials say, but it could also be used against Venezuela

The US Army officially stood up a new command on Friday to oversee the Army’s activities in the Western Hemisphere in the latest signal of increasing focus on homeland defense.

The command will now control everything from the initial Army brochure a new recruit sees to their completion of their basic training.

The training showed integrating new systems such as drones is not easy. Commanders are betting the often-frustrating lessons will pay off on the battlefield.
