Lee County announced today that the first mechanical opening of the Matlacha Drawbridge will occur this week. It will be the first time the bridge has opened since 2022 when Hurricane Ian damaged it.

Drivers are unable to use the troubled Absecon Drawbridge to and from Atlantic City along Route 30 on Monday because the bridge is closed for at least the fourth time since June, authorities said.
